Fall Studies
Pigeon Point offers a Fall Studies Program with special topics that enhances and enforces classroom curriculum and correlates with CA State Standards. The Fall Studies Programs at Pigeon Point are based on a scientific theme, including Wet n’ Wild Watersheds and Web of Life. Fall Studies Programs can also be custom crafted to suit the individual educational needs of your class.
Wet n Wild Watersheds
Follow a drop of water from the forest to the sea through the estuary! Students learn how water moves through a watershed with hands-on lessons in the redwood forest, marsh wetlands, and coastal ecosystems. The Wet n’ Wild Watersheds Fall Program lessons highlight the water cycle, human impacts, and the importance of freshwater as a limited resource. Students also investigate the concepts of geology, erosion, and the forces that shape the coast. The Wet n’ Wild Fall Program focuses on CA State Standards in Earth Science for Grades 3, 4, and 5.
Web of Life Studies
Understanding interconnections between organisms and ecosystems. Students learn about interdependence between organisms and the ecosystems in which they live, including the redwood forest, tidepools, and kelp forest ecosystems. Students get to identify and learn about the producers, consumers, and decomposers in these ecosystems and how they are connected in a food web, as well as how these organisms are adapted to living in their unique habitats. Hand-on activities include exploring the tidepools and identifying the organisms and their relationships to each other. The Web of Life Fall Program focuses on CA State Standards in Life Science for Grades 3, 4, and 5.
